BRC Sequent SGI system - anyone know it?
« on: 10 April 2008, 23:10:45 »

I've come across someone who has a BRC Sequent SGI front end originally fitted to a V6 Omega for sale. Just wondering if anyone knows it?

Is it likely to be suitable for a DIY install?  :-/

I'm very tempted to go for the AC system as I know my way around it now, and it certainly works well, but just wondering how they are likely to compare?

I guess the main question is what the support is like for DIY installs.

I've suggested he advertises it here.

Don't quote me, but I believe it is a fairly good system. However, IIRCC from hours spent on the lpg forum, I don't think the support is that good and I believe the setup is more sensitive!

I've got my eye on the kit you guys recommend for my conversion as it's tried and tested on the V6! I'll probably be crying out for some pictures and advice when it comes down to it though... I'm happy with most of the work installing it but will probably want some advice on mounting points and setup!

This is what I was worried about. Support. If I can't get hold of tuning software and cables, etc. then it's no use.  :-/

One of these days we'll do a conversion at a leisurely enough pace to take pictures and the like. So far they've been a bit fraught.

I think the AC Autogas system is probably a no-brainer. I know it well, the kit comes with everything required, it works very well and the support is excellent.

I have the very kit on my MV6 hooked up to a 60L STAKO tank.

There is a place about 10 miles from me who specialises in BRC fitting to Jags who are servicing my kit next week.

I've been impressed with it but my only concern is the mpg seems to have dropped dramatically. Three weeks ago I was seeing nearly 250 miles from a 50 litre fill (Allowing for expansion space) wherease I am currently struggling to get over 180 - hopefully this will get sorted out in the service!

I don't have any previous experience of LPG but the car runs exactly the same as it does on petrol, there isn't even any noticable drop in power - only complaint is it seems to die on WOT sometimes. Again, I suspect this is in the mapping or the fact it's in desperate need of a service, rather than the kit itself.

Switch over is seamless, filling is easy, and smug  ;D

I'm going to go for one of these AC systems as you all seem so impressed with them... At the end of the day, it's better to stick with what you know. This second hand kit you can get... Price it, bearing in mind you'd need new bits too, and I expect it wouldn't work out much cheaper anyway!!!  :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

Stick with what you know Kevin, you'll be glad you did in the long run!!
