seriously I dont use pads longer than 15-20k as they tend to eat disc surfaces when they are old :-\

Elbow grease is the only thing that works consistently.
Apply it frequently and you won't have a problem!

The paper work from the original owner of my car shows a product described as "brake dust arrester" on the service invoicing.

It does not give details but google reveals

I don't suppose for one minute the technician actually uses it. I'd suspect it's one in the line of snake oil range of products tbh.
