After several poor attempts (Half-Hearted) I finally managed to give up on 6th March 1999, aged 46. The only reason I remember the date is adding the 6 and the 3 plus the 99 gives 999 8)
IME you have to really want to give up. It is no good anyone telling you to give up.
I still fancy a ciggy but, having given up for so long, it is just not worth it starting again. I would be back up to 20 a day within a week.
I finally cracked it by putting patches on my arm and using nicotine chewing gum, all at the same time!!!  I tried the patches and the gum seperately but it was never enough as I had been smoking since an very early age.

Its a double edged sword, we get billions in tax from them, yet it costs the NHS billions to care for its effects.

I know many who smoke & its their choice, but I think it's horrible, expensive habbit. I hate walking along street, then somone puffs out a load of ciggy smoke that I have to then breath in. No so bad for me, but I really hate it when I see people with young children and babies puffing away around them.  :'(  >:(

You have to wonder what will happen if those numbers were reversed, with the constant drive to reduce smokers, it suggests at some point revenue will dip below costs.

Simple, govt. will increase income tax or introduce another stealth tax to make up any shortfall
