2.2dti estate
« on: 06 August 2012, 22:34:31 »

My brother has a 2.2dti Elite estate and when the engine has warmed up and he stops at the lights or when engine revs go down to idle the EML comes on, when he pulls away and revs go up the EML goes out. could this be the EGR Vv only it is not given any codes ? :-\

Yesterday i spent 8 hours stripping and cleaning the EGR valve, inlet manifold and butterfly inlets put new gaskets on from dealer at £12.35. Engine started after a few trys as had to take injector pipes off to get manifold off. No EML light came on, took the car out to warm it up and then left at idle and no EML on. This morning brother came around to collect the Elite and the EML came on when engine started but goes out when normal driving, i checked all the vac pipes yesterday. As the dealer wants £300 for the EGR which only comes with the top part of the inlet manifold they tell me, i would like to know if there is any other thing i can do before paying out so much, i tested all the vac side of things on the EGR and the air was going in and out correctly when spring pushed in, and did not seem to be sticking. no codes are coming up with the pedal trick :-\ ???

Got hold of a code reader yesterday but it said no code's. Looks like this will have to go on tech2 and see if anything comes up. I have been looking at the other posts on here with the same fault and they say try cleaning the MAF so will give that a go this week and will check all vac pipes again. If it's the MAF then tech2 should pick it up is this correct ??? think i need to get hold of TB and see if he has time to do a tech2 on the mig, PM incoming TB :y

Job done, and no he still has the Elite. i took the EGR off again to show the brother that it woked, i also changed the vac valves around to see if it was that and no the EMR still came on, took the pressure sensor unit off the inlet manifold and checked it was still clean and it was, started putting it all back together and last thing i checked all the vac lines, and right at the back of the head i found the snag, a rubber elbow was soft and letting in air to the vac system. put another one on and EMR went out job done. :o :y :y :y thank god as this one was getting to me.
