battery terminal cleaning
« on: 22 August 2012, 17:44:17 »

hi guys. Going to be cleaning my battery terminals this week. Three quick questions. 1. Whats this thing that Mr Haynes mentions about 15 seconds and the alarm goes off? I was just going to disconnect negative then positive and put them back when I'm done? 2. How do i input the radio code? I have it so no problem there but the only numbers i have are the radio preset buttons. Or is it like the clock where you press a button til you get to the number you want? 3. Mr Haynes mentions when I've reconnected the cables i should put petroleum based lubrication on them. So should i smear a load of vaseline on top? Cheers guys

To stop the alarm going off you need to disconnect the battery within 15 seconds of switching the ignition off,so slacken the terminals ready to lift off then switch the ignition on.Then switch the ignition off and immediately go to the battery and lift the terminals off.
2.Do you have a handbook for your radio ? There will be instructions in there on inputing radio code. Its pretty easy.If not ask again and someone can talk you through it.
3.yes.

Use preset button 1 to set the first digit - 1 press for 0, twice for 1 etc.
Use preset button 2 for second digit - as above.... and so on.

If you get the "SAFE" message, turn the ignition OFF then hold the AS button while turning the ignition back to ON. Hold until "CODE 10" appears and then input the code as above.

As Murph says for radio code.Battery on mine has copper grease on terminals, but anything similar will do,basically it's to stop terminals "furring"up.
