cylinder head skimming
« on: 28 August 2012, 19:33:05 »

Been a while since i done any proper engine work , then three come along..

Peugeot 106 1.1 petrol head gasket blown, took it to the engine rebuilder place to get the cylinder head skimmed as it has a slight warp and a pressure test.

The guy who does the skimming suggested that it had been skimmed before as the indent on the head to show maximum skimming was not as deep as it should be.

I asked about supplying a thicker head gasket to compensate for the skim and skim to which i got a bit of a blank look.

Do people bother anymore fitting thicker gaskets??
