Bloody cyclists should obey the Highway Code, and have insurance :( :(

Many of us do.  And we feel the same way about motorists obeying the law and having insurance, odd given that most cyclists are also car drivers too :y

I am very pleased to hear it :y

What about the ones who ignore trafflic lights, go on the pavement when it suits them, turn onto a major road without stoping, sneak up in the blind spot at junctions, never use lights, never signal, and worse still totally ignore the cylcle lanes provided :( :(

I get bored with this type of conversation.

What about those motorists who pull out in front of cyclists, who dont see you because they are on the phone, overtake and then pull in too early pushing you on to the pavement or even, in my case, the ones who deliberately ram you off the road at 30mph.

Cleggy, you dont do any of that as far as I know but I dont tar you or all motorists with the same brush.  There are as many idiots on four wheels as there are on two.  The big difference is that if a motorist makes a mistake they could kill a cyclist, if a cyclists decides to break the rules and gets run over then that's just classic Darwinism at work :y

Trust me, cyclists have a lot more to be peeved about than motorists do.  That comes from someone who sits on both sides of the fence and regularly disciplines soldiers for not following the rules around my area.  If I could do the civies too then I would  :y

I had to stop for a Pelican crossing the other morning on the way to work.... there were about 2 other cars on the road at the time. The lights went red & this bloody woman got on her push bike, cycled across the crossing & then continued to cycle along the cycle lane!!  :o :o :o :o I nearly planted my foot on the 'GO' pedal & mowed her down! I wonder how many red lights she chooses to cycle through whe the mood takes her? .................... 10 ......9 ...... 8.......7......6............5  ::)  ::)  ::)  ::)

Anyway .......... it all detracts from Pete's comment that all the Lycra Louts then complained about the Transit being stationary in the road. If the same Lycra Louts had been in their cars & came around the bend at a speed that they couldn't stop from, would it still have been the Transit's fault if they'd hit it?  ???  ???  ::)

the cyclists are at fault whether in a car or on two wheels.  Even if the van is illegally parked....

Guffer I do agree with you about bad motorists, last Sunday morning I was travelling along a narrow twisting hilly country lane which a cycling club were using in both directions, quite colourful ;). Yes I had to slow down to their pace and the opportunity to give a wide berth was often foiled with a cyclist coming in the other direction, I felt more like a marshall. What infurriated me were the car drivers squeezing past just to get to a Car Boot on the same lane, one idiot even overtook me while I was waiting for a clear stretch of road to overtake the cyclist in front. >:( >:(

Yes I always give at least a cars width when overtaking a cyclist and slow down for horses. ( saddle sniffing :-* ::) ;D) :y :y

It is a two way street but most cyclists I encounter are absolute precks when it comes rules of the road and expect motorists to react to their stupidity >:( >:(.

By the way I used to cycle until my knees wore out ;) :y

Which reminds me the Tour of Britain is passing the end of our crescent between 10.00 and 11.30 this morning :) :) :y

Just who do cyclists think they are ??? ???

Ignoring red traffic lights, travelling 10 abreast and 10 deep, completely blocking the road, going well over the speed limit, no consideration for other road users or pedestrians. >:( >:( >:(

Wait a minute, police motorcycles, roads closed temporarily, support vehicles, crowds lining the route applauding. Nice to see and I only had to walk 20 yards to view the spectacle :y :y :y

I encountered that yesterday.I was in Lowestoft in my Omega, with its twin hooked up behind it.The town centre was all closed off for the cyclists.Had to detour through all the little narrow back streets which is a pita when towing, and then sat at a complete standstill for over half an hour in the baking heat, when I was more than a little keen to  get the car(s) home. >:( ::)

Just wait until you see the price on a half decent one-piece triathlon suit.  Eye-watering.
