Droplinks
« on: 14 September 2012, 21:38:44 »

Strange question but does anybody have a clear picture of a droplink in situ.
Reason is I had my drivers side wheel off today getting it balanced. I noticed that I had a what looked to be a large nut between the bracket and the nut that comes with the droplink and i just want to see if this is correct. I can only see its there to keep the droplink in a vertical position. Didnt have my camera to get a picture so was hopping somebody could help so I can explain better.

cheers Paul.

To me this looks wrong as the other side the rubber bush is touching the antiroll bar.
Can anybody confirm that this will or will not effect the steering and should I get rid of the nut in between the rubber of the droplink and the antiroll bar.

Just shows how much leeway there is with the MoT :-\ still, if there's no play, then not too much to worry about :y

Pic not the clearest though, it could just be the shaped part of the shaft that you use to hold the joint steady whilst tightening the lock nut on the other side, usually 17mm.  :-\

Here is a photo of one I removed today, if it helps. They were both slightly bent, so I got new ones from a GM dealer.

They said VX would be over £30 each, Unipart over £20  eache, but they did me the Unipart at trade price at just over £7 each.
