« on: 14 September 2012, 13:46:50 »

What is it about Jap cars from the 80s,they just dont seem rust :o eg where I reside there is a  88 Freg Nissan Bluebird 16ls or something used daily, not the prettiest of colours ;D but Ive seen it up close and personal and there is not a spot of rust on it anywhere its all original, yet when I check my 2000 mig over I find rust blisters on inside edges of rear arches >:(
Bluebird 24 years. Omega 12 years. WHY!  >:( What do Japs put into motors, that Brits dont.. :y

Vauxhalls in the 80s, 90s and early 00s just rust. Must be due to poor anticorrosion or poor paint.  Just like Fords in the 80s and early 90s.

When I had Volvo 960 estate, at 10 years old, that was much better than my mig at that age, but the Volvo was hot dipped galvanized and this seems to make a massive difference.  :y

Not so sure Mate, the guy in the flat next door has a Nissan Primera Sri P reg 97 which he has for day and track use at the weekends. Bears quite a few track day scars,he never washes it and its white ;D in fact hes a bit of a jap fanatic. beside that he has parked up a Susuki Swift 13 Gti H reg 90/91 Zero rust on the arches. Does admit to the sills being shagged under the covers though ;D

I had a runabout 1980's nissan sunny a while back and the bodywork was immaculate , no rust anywhere . Quite amazing condition and did notice a good coating of underseal was applied from factory finish  :) Like those zx turbo's , becoming collectible ...

Ime early Jap cars 70's/80's used to rust quite quickly, but later models were much much better...... :y :y
iirc 60's / 70's Vx were terrible for rust but Ford were little better.... :) :)
