It happens every September. Although obviously they had it bad this year.

Still at least it's not my personal cloud this time, as we usually go to Spain this time of year.

I think that Omegatoy is back in Britain at the mo. Another forum member Bootie lives here as well.

We have had four days of heavy rain here which fortunately hasn't created too much damage at all. It is the first rain at all that we have had for six months in what has been the driest year for 70 years. The first day it was quite comical watching juvenile birds like sparrows with their first encounter with rain.

The three areas that are badly affected aren't that far away from us at all. What happens is rain clouds seem to just hang over a place and dump their contents. A few years back we had the same with four inches of rain in two hours which was just crazy but I understand that the affected areas have had double that amount in half a day. There will be plenty of work for JCB drivers clearing up that is for sure.

Some press photos of area behind Malaga here http://www.alora.es/Inicio/N.asp?IdArticulo=3968

This spot in the photo is midway between Omegatoy and us   http://elpais.com/elpais/2012/09/28/inenglish/1348835925_441339.html

The bridge with the white van on is actually a main motorway from Granada to Almeria. The river below washed the foundations away.

Certainly not as devestating as it is to the locals, but the MotoGP boys in Almeria this weekend have experienced the 'rain in Spain'.  :(

Me, I'm fine, presently enjoying the start of the monsoon season over here in Malaysia..... at least it's washing the rig down a bit!

Spoke to SWMBO yesterday..... we have had a bit of rain, the water collection butt is full to overflowing, the plants love it, the patio doors don't!

We are lucky enough to be 900m up a mountain, consequently it all runs past us down to the coast. No damage to the roads like the bad rain a couple of years ago, they had just finished building a new road half way up and the engineers had got the slope wrong for the embankments, all that water logged fresh spoil just slid down onto the road in a few places and on the other side, it washed out from underneath as the drains couldn't cope!  All been rectified and strengthened and so far, has not been a problem.

Forecast is for it to dry out and warm up again once the jet stream moves back to where it should be!!!
