Well Done JimBob (4OD)
« on: 15 October 2012, 16:39:22 »

Just caught up on 4 on Demand, the 'Plane Crash' that went out last week, nice to see JimBob (the Pilot) being the last one on board to parachute out just before crashing the Plane in the desert. Kinda gives you a sense of security that if OOF ever crashes to its final fate, that one of the Admins will be the last to jump ship.   ;D

Whilst I found the program enjoyable to watch, started to think all a bit pointless tbh, if your going to spend the sort of money it would have cost to make the program, why pick an old 727 that went out of commercial service in the 80's, secondly why just fly the thing nose down into the ground!, in a real life situation, assuming the pilots where still in control, the Pilot would have tried to reduce speed and flair the plane as much as possible before dumping it on the ground, Im sure giving a total different crash results?.

Still, on the passenger survival side, all in First Class presumed dead, front of economy survivable, and those sitting at the back probably had time to finish their Coffee before walking off. Which supports my theory, always sit at the back, after all you never here of planes reversing into Mountains, do you!  ;)

727- wasn't it the only plane available with a walk out ramp at the back? Others would have involved the crew leaving via a traditional door and possibility of getting into problems.

I thought the comparison with brace or no brace postion injuries was interesting. Brace for me and a possible broken ankle (why do they have those stupid footrests anyway?) rather than concussion! I was once on a Ryanair flight that aborted take off just after getting airborne as a result of the engines ingesting a flock of seagulls. That was fairly low G but everything not fastened down ended up at the front of the plane

Sitting at the back? Maybe best place in a crash but the air back there is pretty limited when the switch air packs off mid flight to save money (at least that is why I think the people at the back always look placid or dozy ;D It is also very noisy rear of the engines.

Maybe the best place to sit is near the black (well orange) recorder as they always seem to survive. I bet most flight attendants don't even know where it is on their plane!

OR fly as little as possible (The Varche approach to air safety) ;D ;D ;D
