a couple of questions
« on: 19 October 2012, 21:46:52 »

Handbrake backplates, about how much and are they vx only?

One front wheel appears to be further back than the other. The wishbones were done a couple of years back (about 3000m ago). It feels like its crabbing slightly and does pull left. Is it likely that something to do with the bones has moved?

thanks
Dave

half shaft needs to come out.
I'm sure those here that have done one .... or been somewhere near the job will advise.
Why do you want to replace them?

Rusted/ rotten. The springs / clips that hold the shoes in place have nothing to hang on to.

;) Poor pigs....they do not deserve that cos the job can be an even worse one than that! Rust is thine enemy and you would be best buying OEM from the dealership. Trade card would be handy though.
As for the wishbones.....Sounds like a fair bit of wear to me so the only thing you can do is to get the alignment checked...preferably by someone who knows what they about like WIM's. The miggy is very sensitive to the suspension set up and the settings are complicated.
To be honest though once they are all set and correct the car handles like a dream............

Find a old metal backbox that sits in your wall behind the 13 amp sockets in your house.

With a pair of pliers, knock out a couple of the 20mm round knock out holes that you remove too insert the wires.
Punch threw a hole threw the disc with a hammer and flat blade screwdriver (the slot needs to be about 5 or 6mm in length and no more then 2mm in width).

As if by magic, you now have a homemade repair washer  :y

Now the fun bit  ;D ;D ;D .............. I always glue the homemade washer too the back of the plate using a blob of glue so that it doesn't fall away when you rebuild the brakes  :y

Hope this helps  :)
