I have had reason to remove/replace the dispack on several previous occasions but when done before I have removed the screen scuttle/plenum and upper manifold to ease access.

Just so I am fully armed with all the information ,and having a totally water tight scuttle panel now which I really don,t want to touch,is it possible to get the dispack out without removing it.

I have a suitable box of plasters so aware of whats involved.

I am aware of how and whats involved in removing and refitting the pack,just wanted to enquire if it was practical to do without removing the windscreen scuttle panel and if anybody who had done it this way had any pointers .

My opinion is to remove all the HBV plumbing from the bulk head just leaving the bottom hose joined to the transfer pipe and bridge to improve access.

You could give a go at removing the pollen filter bracket and see if there is a hatch there? That way if the hatch and you can get to the dispack you won't need to remove the scuttle

No access at all via the void where the pollen filter lives as the curved section of the firewall stops and access.

Curious if others have removed dispack without removing the longer section of the scuttle panel as now it improves access,but hopefully not essential

I removed the wiper motor too, more room the better for me  hateful job

I didn't do it myself, but Elite Pete has just changed mine over and I don't think he touched the scuttle panel.  If it's water tight now, then leave well alone, the reason I had to change my dispack was because of corrosion due to water pissing down from the scuttle

I have removed the dispack before ,several times,always by removing the screen scuttle,but never needed to take out wiper motor.

Have now successfully got my screen scuttle to be "water-tight" so really dont want to touch that at all if I don,t need to .Will be investigating source of misfire in the morning so will do plugs and inspect leads first...if no success will pull out the dispack for a look but wanted to know if it can be removed without touching the screen scuttle .

I'd suggest it is easier to re-seal the scuttle than to faff about changing the DISPack with it in place.

All that trouble you went to getting a water tight scuttle as well  I guess it can be done in situ but i just removed everything possible including the wiper motor . I would have a go with the scuttle in place seeing as you spent time getting it water tight 

I made it harder for myself by leaving the plenum on , apparently there is more access with it off but didnt realise till after i had replaced the coil pack and ripping my hair out

Anythings possible mate - I've always removed just the scuttle and found access ok.  Personally wouldn't want to try removing it with scuttle in place - IMO easier to take scuttle out, reseal and refit

Last time I took it out I did remove the scuttle and plenum,but sure I did see a post saying it wasn,t really necessary and with this recent crap wet weather worried about getting scuttle to reseal or sealant drying if removed.

My theory was the least removed that could cause future problems...in truth not sure of dispack is at fault but want all bases covered before starting in the morning.

Just remove the plenum and inlet manifold. I did Jons (Bluebridges) in about an hour
