Aah the superior face lift. :)

Main driving difference you'll notice, I think, is the drive by wire throttle. Pick up is bit quicker, but not necessarily better under all conditions. Pedal doesn't move when cruise is activated and altered, like the old cable activated pre face lift 2.5/3.0 engines.

There is a lot less gubbins under the 2.6/3.2 bonnet. No icv, no egr, no sai, no plug leads. Much easier to work on.

And you no longer need a paper clip to read the fault codes. :)

Sounds like a big improvement. Can you get fault codes without one of those reader devices?

Yep,using the pedal trick instead of the paper clip :y

That's very useful! :y

...although only from the engine ecu. Not gear box and other ecu's.

The engines didn't change with the change from PFL to FL, but about a year after. So you can get a FL with a 2.5 or 3.0l engine.

I prefer the power delivery of the 3.0 over the 3.2, I prefer the automatic gearbox software of the 3.0 (which is miles ahead of the 3.2), and I prefer the interior of the PFL.

If it wasn't for the rust problem, I'd say the superior PFL is a better car.

I suppose it's difficult to find a PFL in immaculate condition?

All down to personal preference of course, but I would say the f/l cars are the better looking, but the earlier cars had a superior interior.
