Increased load, decreased air flow due to less speed = less cooling. Hence more free flowing grill needed.

...as vx have been tight wads on r+d again.

Quite the opposite when you think about it as they are trying to minimise drag and have designed in the ability to mod the grill when a pikey hook is fitted so as to increase cooling
I just KNEW you'd say that. ;D

But should it need the mod at all...? Surly the total cooling capacity should be able to cope with not toeing AND toeing without messing about with the grill ?

So you propose compromising the drag factor for the corner case of users e.g. those with a pikey hook  ???

Total cooling capacity is clearly able to cope or it would over heat with the mod
I'm saying the cooling should cope with pikey bar and standard grill.
And if selling a tow bar, one shouldn't have to pay extra for a grill, it should come with it. ...further, the customer shouldn't be left hanging! ...even if he is a pikey! ;D

Reality is that you dont pay for a grill, the basic mod is to remove a section which is designed to be removed.

You can simply use it without the plastic section or fit a smaller one

aha, now that's different. Why didn't you say that at the start... Or maybe you did? ;) :)

Although I still think the customer shouldn't have to dick about with something like this tbh. Pikeys have enough to worry about. Robbing post offices, steeling man hole covers etc...

Here is the fitting instructions:

http://www.ifz-berlin.de/ins_pdf/32026175.pdf

(this site has ALL the Vx accessory fitting instructions on it).

In fact, having re-read it, I am not sure what AA is on about as it simply says, remove it!

In fact step 67 (page 23) tells you to look at the grill and if it has a blocking piece fitted then go to step 68 (page 24), if it doesn't then go to step 79.

Step 67 (page 23) onwards tells you how to remove the bumper and the blocking piece, it mentions nothing about fitting anything!

Are you having a senior moment Mr DTM  :-\ Ive been back through this thread and cannot see anywhere AA asking about fitting anything  :-\

Perhaps it was a private convo with him  ::) ;D

And the owner has to remove the front bumper, as well, to remove the blanking piece...?

Or who ever fits it...

Assumption on my part as the pikey pensioner mentioned epc, part codes and model specific stuff.

Bumper removal is easy on those and anyway, it's for a pikey hook

When I first read it, albeit incorrectly, I assumed, again incorrectly, that you replaced the grill with a modified one.

Having re-read it and understood it, I now know differently.

Had a look this morning, it's like the second one down on page 23.

Simple job, will tackle it before I tow.
