Not hijacking this but I`ve had the "spanner" light come on about 4 times in the past month and when putting my reader (Maxscan) on it, comes up with no codes stored or pending

Are we talking petrol or The Devil's fuel? Sister-in-laws diseasal Astra had the EML light on (spanner through car  ) I tried my Maxscan & that showed the same ie no codes stored or pending, however the pedal trick showed a code (glow plug)

Hmmmm, its defo a 2.2 petrol auto CD.  I was clutching at straws.

I'm at a bit of a loss on this one.  If you were closer to me, I'd get you to swing by...

read while it,s on(maybe show up then)

Update.
No light on for 3 days(200 miles).
Did notice light goes out after ignition on(as it should).
previously the eml was staying on until engine started

Hi,
  I`ve had this problem for ages and I think I`ve sust it,I put an after market cat on and that`s when the problem started, I `m going to run the car till the exhaust fails then replace it with a genuine cat.
