Rear Braking Noise
« on: 21 November 2012, 17:16:15 »

Wondered if anybody has similar problem, when braking get "booming" noise, not very loud but loud enough to effect hearing, sounds like ABS as goes on and off very quickly, but continuous over braking distance, sorry difficult to explain.

Have you checked your rear pads and discs for wear ??? Could be something as simple as the pads worn out ... although IME that is more of a "grinding" noise than a "boom" ...

Just recently had all brakes and discs replaced front and back, about 1000 miles ago.

Digressing slightly ........  ::)
we got a taxi recently, and as he made his first decent stop, there was a metal to metal grating / grinding from the front of the car. I suggested he needed to get new brake pads fitted ASAP .........he'd wondered what the noise was!  ???  ???  ???

Took car for MOT today and failed on handbrake, needed replacement pads, they said the rear discs are warped, after taking for test drive they suggested that this is the noise heard, so have had to replace rear discs £95.00, rear pads at garages expense and handbrake pads, total cost £235.00 in VAT, labour and MOT.
