Emergency Plumber
« on: 14 December 2012, 16:09:33 »

Got kicked out of bed at 6.30am by swmbo telling me there was bow in the living room ceiling and water was dripping - Guessed what it was, the cold water tank had overflowed, overflow pipe frozen.... :D :D :D

Anyway I started pulling panels shelves and doors off to enable access and rang a Plumber that my Parents use------- He had a small job first but would be with me this morning.. :y

Arrived at 12.30 with a new ball valve, left at 14.10 access difficult, cold water tank difficult old valve seized in, needed to fit a new piece of pipe and an on/off valve to save turning the water off for any further maintenance.... :y :y

Gritting my teeth, and prepared for the worst, I ask how much I owed him his reply - 'Call it £40 quid for cash mate'  Well Happy with that.... :y :y :y

Can't argue with that. Sounded like he was in the process of inflating the job to include a boiler change there. ::)

No, I don't think so :) It was me who on his leaving mentioned a new combi bolier, he suggested a place, no price asked but I can not see how I could save enough on energy prices to cover the cost, in my lifetime... :-\ :-\ :-\

Thanks for that TD  :y

Had a very quick look, may be worth following up but you get nothing for free, I know you have to pay for it, but bet I have to spend a lot more money than if I just paid for a new boiler. I was thinking on the lines of they may make me change, to update, my radiators etc....... :-\ :-\ :-\

Im thinking of new rads anyway.....but might be worth you registering anyway and get an initial assessment, even if you dont proceed with it. If you do, the Gov are offering £1000 cashback for early adopters of the scheme  :y

As you say you get nothing for free, but this scheme has purely been launched by the Gov, so that they can meet they carbon emmisions target.
