Please enlighten me ;)

An "embedded" item is one that appears in the forum without you doing anything ..

That is an "embedded" picture, if it was a video that played right away it would be an "embedded video"

A "linked" item is one you have to "click" to get to

http://imageshack.us/a/img542/8256/img6547g.jpg

is a linked item

HTH  :)

That's a year old now TD ... and not very "shiny" at the moment .. bloody filthy in fact !! and it's not going to get cleaned before the New Year outing looking at the weather forecast...

Hedge is a weird problem .... we now think/hope it might be caused by the past couple of years of low rainfall ... if so it should start to recover PDQ in the spring !!  I just wish i knew exactly what causes this patchiness .. all the leylandii hedges on the estate have exactly the same problem .. some not as bad .. but many even worse .. :(

Is it not a case of excessive and too irregular trimming? We have similar on ours. It gets left too long, then trimming to get it tidy and straight means cutting all the green off in places. Which won't grow back, it's a "feature" I'm told. They all do that sir. :)

Mine gets a light trim 3 times a year, very careful NOT to cut "old" wood as that takes a long time to recover. Ted across the road does his 4 times a year and has the same problem.

The "patches" on mine are worst at the back near the block paving, and, in that picture, where there is a substantial shrub on the other side, all of which "tends" to support the lack of water idea ...lets face it ... the roadside gets NO water at all .. but we'll have to see how it recovers next year ..

Neighbour accross the road from me, has/had the same problem. He got a "gardener" out to take a look at it......his dead patches were confined to the top half of the hedge....."the expert" said it was lack of rain in previous years......told him it would never recover......so now he has a hedge half the height it used to be  ::)
