Are you a pikey?!! ;D

I've asked my brother who is also a member on here. If he can help or knows anyone who can help he will get in touch.

The reason I ask is we had a single axle caravan that was the longest you could get without being twin axle. Most campsites we went to in Europe checked us out as they had a "no gypsies" policy. Apparently one person turns up with the trailer then that night loads more people and vans come........ Not that I have anything against gypsies.

That's a lovely looking van!  Do you tow that with your 2.5 Omega?  If so does the car struggle pulling such a large twin axle van? :o

I am asking as I have a towing hitch and I have wondered what the maximum size of van/trailer is that I could tow with a 2.5, without additional oil coolers? :-?

Lizzie ... auto Omegas ( well the proper V6 ones)  have built in oil cooler already .. you need not worry about that at all !!

I towed for 6 years with a 2.5, now tow with the beast (3.2) - I didn't change simply to get the extra grunt  .. but its very nice !!

The Omega tows like a dream, especially if you have self leveling suspension.. it has excellent power and damned good brakes .

So, the only thing you need worry about is weight. As it is downright stupid ( as well as dangerous) to tow something heavier than you ... (laws of physics .. if the trailer weighs more than the tug ...  which has control .. especially going downhill .......  ) all you need to know is the weight of the miggy and the weight of the 'van.

Miggy is around 1600-1800 kgs depending on specification (my 2.5 Elite was 1705kgs .. the 3.2 Elite is  1757kgs - figures taken from the handbook and calculated for exact car specs  )

I tow a 1600 Kg MTPLM 'van and it is not a problem .. in any way shape or form ... (okies .. the MPG tends to drop a tad ....  )

HTH

I've towed a 1700 kg 100' lattice trailer tower with mine and it didn't bat an eyelid. Would probably benefit from more frequent ATF changes if you're doing that sort of thing regularly but other than that it's fine.

Think I averaged 17-18 MPG on that trip.

Anyway, back to the original post.

She that must be obeyed doesn't want a caravan in the yard.

I will ask around some friends and see if I can find stabling for the box. :'(

Don't know if it helps but I think Iknow where you could store it, if he has any space, but about 1 hour North of Scarborough. :)

I have asked a couple of farmer types just outside Scarborough. Both can't take the van.

Sorry. :-(
