2.2 Dti Fuel Economy...
« on: 09 January 2013, 08:12:56 »

Having a quick look through post on here and seem's avg MPG for the 2.2dti is 35+ more so on a long run  ( yeah i know different circumstances etc ) however on a run no matter how nice I drive,  computer shows no more than 25mpg :S, i know the computer isnt the most acuratce but its a rough idea. I just seem to be filling as much as a petrol  ::), this isnt even towing  ( this drops to 17mpg lol )

Do you guys recomend anything I can run through the system ? or any common valves that clog etc that might be worth a clean / swap as car has 136k on now.  It had a serive a year ago by last owner by the looks of things but no really what was done so ill get fuel filter etc to try help.

Im sure this car is trying to test me lol :(

I'm not an expert on the oil burners but if it has t been serviced for a year I'd start with a full service and a can of diesel magic in the filter :y

These engines like frequent oil changes... Every 3-4k miles (no matter what Vx say) and they can do starship mileages :y

Should add, it sounds like the EGR could be blocked and also that the inlet and breathers could do with a good clean too :y

My DTi is awsome on fuel despite being unhealthy im surprised your getting so low fuel economy like suggestes simply ubolt the egr and have a look at how much deposit is on the valve should give you some idea on how healthy your intake mainfold is :)
