EE 4G and Nokia Lumia 920
« on: 09 January 2013, 10:14:53 »

There is always a catch to everything in life.

Yes I have been with Orange for 14 years and yes I would like to upgrade to 4G.

Great - Nokia Lumia 920 32gb, unilimited minutes, 1gb data, unlimited texts, and some picture messages for £33 a month.

However - Nokia Windows platform not supporting the Sim Access Profile that Symbian phones do and so will not work with built in VW, Skoda and Audi telephone systems. WTF. Those systems were built by Nokia or Nocatel or someting like.

I have ordered on basis that I will give it a try but with 7 days to return it. May have to switch to Samsung SIII which apparently has RSAP software - anyone got an SIII who can corroborate that please?

Why do they not think these things through with so many VWs and Audis on the roads.

Have EE rolled out 4G where you tend to be? ???

I'm not bothering with 4G as by the time it gets rolled out in this part of the country we'll be on 7G ::) :D

I am in London most of time so see how we go. Phone set up with email etc very easy amd migration of data will do when I get home tonight as Nokia have a specific programme to move data to Lumia. This is all well and good but just spoke to them about the RSAP and operator says if we do anything it will be on web site. Said to them this is reason Nokia failing - no respect for customers - answer should be either we have no plans or we have plans for RSAP. Just another jobsworth who said she would feedback my comments.

Potentially such a disappointing end to a long long relationship with Nokia

Yea, good luck with that one, messed around on a Nokia E7 with RASP with no joy, turns out even though its on the phone its not supported.

Im afraid Nokia lost the plot a while back by refusing to give up on Symbian when everyone else was going over to Android, shame really good phones, wish them luck with the Mobile Windows market.

After the nonsense call centre experience just phoned Nokia Head office in Finland who were taken by surprise a little when I got through to Stephen Elop's office (CEO) with my complaint. Anyway - observations well and truly recorded now so see what happens - I am promised a call back.
