The latest craze amongst the people of Cuba[not just the young]is being worn on all items of clothing from footwear to headgear.Handbags etc.are decorated with it,fingernails painted and hair styles shaved with it."IT" is the UNION FLAG.!!!Seems the Olympic games boosted our profile over there no end.

While we seemed to have forgotten all about it within a fortnight of it ending.The much vaunted feelgood factor which was going to rejuvenate the whole country didnt seem to materialise for some reason.

went to cuba about 3 years ago  fantastic place

loads of 50s american cars some in a1 condition some just hanging together with any engine they could find thrown in.

before going we did some reserch and found things like pens,crayons,colouring books where hard to get,so went down the pound shop and spent about 50 pounds on these items,and the looks on the kids faces when we gave  them was worth the trip alone
we went off the beaten track and met people who didnt have much/nothing but they invited us in where very freindly and would share what they had with you.but unlike some poor places ive been you could eat your dinner of the floor really when to prove that even if you have nothing you dont have to live in a pigsty.
 
lots of great places and sights to see but the best thing was no shops to be dragged round!

Oh it so did Albs. You just choose not to see it. The mood on here was very noticeably improved during the Olympics. Marked I'd say.

I'd agree the national mood had slipped by December though. Recession biting I guess. We could give ourselves a bit if credit now and then I think, rather than the constant rants mentality we see on here so often.
