I dont think that is overpriced - as you know it all depends on frame and lens coating etc.. I just ordered a pair of spectacles and sunglasse and they were that much each after some hardcore haggling! P.S. From Eyesite in Reading - good service but not cheap.

Paid £175 for two pairs in the end. Specsavers.

One pair for normal use.
Another for reading.

Only they seem to have got a measurement wrong with the vision centre. Another appointment on Monday. Sigh...

I went to specsavers about 3years ago, when i was struggling to read in poor light.

I chose specsavers, because at the time they were doing free eyetests for cab drivers.

Paid about £35ish for frames and lenses.

My eyesight seems to vary tho.....ie first thing this morning i was reading this site no problem, now however ive just put my glasses on...i think it has something to do with my blood sugar level... :-\

Chucked the bi-focals in at the opticians, and now got one pair of 'reading' glasses and one pair of 'distance' jobbies.

Finding the latter very good whilst driving .... at last! 8)

but you then find yourself looking over/under your distance glasses to see the dash ............ Well I do  ;)

So do I, come to think of it :o

I'm diabetic, type b. I have been told it effects your eyesight, so i guess its the blood sugar level doing it.

I'm waiting for my yearly appointment to have my eyes scanned, to check no damage is being done to my eyesight, should have been done 3 months ago.....but since i had my last one (done by the NHS) the procedure has been outsourced to Virgin Health......so i wont hold my breath  ::)

Ah yes, Virgin healthcare. How are you finding that? Wasnt there someone here who said privatising the NHS was the way forward. Still, at least appointments are much quicker than the terrible old NHS.
