Code Reader Recommendations Please
« on: 28 January 2013, 10:29:29 »

It's time to bite the bullet and get myself a decent code reader.

It will need to be able to read and reset codes from half and full canbus Vauxhalls, as well as Omega's.  I would also like to be able to read live data, and be able to pull the info off in case I need to post it up for advice in the future.  Ideally, I would like to be able to read codes from other systems on the cars, and not just the engine, although I don't know if this would be possible?  :-\

Looking for a nice, robust unit that's easy to use.  And it needs to come from a trusted UK supplier, as I don't want a Chinese copy.

Looking to spend up to £100.

TIA  :y

I have an autel maxiscan which has served me well, seems to pick up transmission codes and does some freeze frame data. Was about £40 a few years ago but for your budget there is probably a more capable version about now.

There is a lot of capable lap top stuff around but we may stray into copyright issues!!

To avoid the copyright issue, I'd like to clarify that I'm only interested in a genuine, legal, handheld unit.  :y

The site I used to use "talk to my car" looks like it has gone down ... domain name for sale :(

but Autel make some good stuff, and if you buy from a decent source you should avoid the ebay chinese clones ..
