Advice on charging a tablet
« on: 21 February 2013, 08:30:48 »

I've got an 12v Usb charger, output 1.5 === 1000ma.

Would it be suitable for charging my Nexus 7 through the ciggie socket in my car, or would it damage the Nexus?

Should I buy a proper one?

The Nexus in car charger is about £30.

All tablets I've seen are charged via micro USB. Thus, in 99% of cases, any micro USB charger will work, although some of the lower current ones will take longer.

For the car, I'd invest in a reasonable quality ciggy to USB adapter, capable of 2A, and use any micro USB lead.

BTW, all micro USB chargers are 5v. Its the current that varies (from 500mA to around 2500mA)
