Sounds like Secondary Air Injection (SAI)

Your right its used to reduce emissions when cold, you can either unplug it at its source or pull its fuse  :y

If it annoys you, unplug it.

Not needed for emissions test here ;)

Sorry can't help but does the 2.6 have a secondary air injection please? Is operated by a solenoid behind the plenum? Just clutching a straws here. Cheers. Dave

Easy option is pull fuse 29A in the engine bay  :y
