Anyone fancy buying a Spanish village? 45,000 euros
« on: 05 May 2013, 16:32:06 »

Interesting article on BBC News.  http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-22409449

Might just be an interesting project for someone with money, vision and access to some cheap labour. One day folk will go back to the countryside!

It would be important to make sure you got land with it, that never goes out of favour. (most rural houses come on a parcel of land which is "associated" with the house). Also water would be key.

There are plenty to go at see this map of abandoned villages. http://www.pueblosabandonados.com/mapa

We saw a large village that was being done up near Valencia for tourism only . Beautiful location, great views and at the end of a road.

If anyone is interested I'll happily act as their consultant ;D ;D ;D

I saw that.  :)  It'll certainly keep him busy for a while!  :o and he'll need deep pockets, but as you say it could well be a good investment!  :y

Maybe to the deep pockets. I would say for an investment of 45k at least double that to do up even doing the work yourself.

However there may well be an alternative  modern version of the sixties "Hippies" around. Someone with 60k to flash for a house and the good life. £100k in the bank from a house sale might last them ten years till they got a state pension. There are plenty of folk stuck in a rut with that sort of equity......More free labour.......?

Let me see, an entire village in the sun for 45k. Or an entire island in the rain for 2.5m. I know what my choice would be  ;D ;D
