Sadly its one I know.....

There are three I know of:

DPI -Dots per inch - the traditional measurement.
CPI - Which has come about thanks to software being sued to accelerate the mouse cursor.

and

The 'Mickey', which is actually meaningless unless combined with the DPI figure as it only reports the number of dots moved on the screen (hence the Mickey x the DPI gives the true number of dots/pixels moved on the screen for a given distance with software interaction)

I'll get me coat!

I agree with Mark, dunno what GAL is???

OK, I have one... Does anyone know what TWAIN stands for...? (for the un-initiated, it is a protocol for scanners and other graphic devices)

Well its a standards body that regulates (its pretty voluntary actualy) the software protocols between imaging devices, the associated drivers and sofwtare packages.

It is not an acronym, its actualy from one of Kiplings writings 'never the Twain shall meet' (I was quite good at english at school, but not spelling  ;))..........

....now where did I put my coat!   :o
