Jag query
« on: 08 June 2013, 15:34:18 »

Afternoon folks, My dads S type has developed a miss fire which has been attributed to the coil pack, As my dads mate who normally looks after his car is on holiday until the 16th of this month I was wondering if driving it with a misfire until then would do any damage. He only does around 7 miles a day. Its a 2000 3ltr by the way. Thanks for any help :y

All misfires should be sorted sooner rather than later ..... as Rob says, you're potentially pouring fuel down your exhaust  ???  :y

Modern ECUs will shut off the fuel to a cylinder that is misfiring to avoid damaging the cats. I don't know if a 2000 Jaguar is modern enough to have that feature though :-\

looked at buying an s-type and coil pack failure/cat failures are very common and can be a bit of a pain to get at one bank of cylinders to check.
