If the back end is an Exchange server, point the phone directly to Activesync (embarrassingly, Apple's Activesync implementation is far better than anything MS have done on a portable device).

If the back end isn't Exchange Server, why the hell are you using Outlook :). I believe you need to sync via iCloud in that scenario.

The back end isnt exchange server.....Ive always used Outlook on PC (Gmail on phone) they both sync with my ISP's mailbox.....what would you use then?

Syncing via iCloud suggests i need a data or wifi connection......which i dont have atm......well not on the iphone.....due to Openreach not being able to fix my landline fault in nearly 2 weeks.....Iphone has my 'normal number' sim in it (but run out of data, £10 goodybag) . Old blackberry has a temp £12.50 gigabag (3Gb data) sim in it, tethered to my notebook.

Will look into iCloud .....thanks

In iTunes, click the entry for your iPhone in the source list, click on the Info tab, then under contacts click on "Sync contacts from", and then click "Outlook"

There is a sync option in gaytunes, but that means constantly plugging phone in to PC

//Edit: actually, is there now a wifi sync option in gaytunes? Dunno, not got it loaded, as its the work of Satan.

Thankyou and to all others that replied.......success! didnt really want to sync contacts.....as ive manually entered them....and its a good way of pruning names that ive forgotten lol!

But syncing the calender this way is great.....all my birthday reminders and other events i usually forget are now sync'd :-)

When my router is back on (no point at present as still no internety via landline) i will look at syncing via wifi :)
