Exhaust, noise and hard starting
« on: 10 June 2013, 20:02:20 »

Hello my friends,

I am from Algeria and i am an owner of Omega 2.2 dti 2001 (y22dth i think). Opel cars are not so frequent in Algeria and especially the Omega. I think i am the unique owner of an Omega in my town.

Today, i have got problem strating it. At moments it starts normally, at others it start hardely with a lot of noise in the motor and a lot of grey to white exhaust gazes. Mechanics here are not so competent and have no experience with opel cars.

Please, can some one help me !

Regards

Hi,

Where are exhaust gases coming from?

When it's not starting is the starter still turning the engine over i.e. ''crank, no start''?

Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

The gases comes from the exhaust tube. No, crank and then start. some times, it start correctly and then turn with no smoke, and when it start hardly, there is smoke when driving.

Please to excuse my bad english.

Smoking on a diesel always gets me looking towards the EGR valve as a first port of call.
