Possible Radiator leak
« on: 13 June 2013, 13:44:25 »

Before I start changeing anything, I thought I would get some advice, on all the tell, tell signs of a knackered Rad ???
Ive  noticed that there is signs of coolant in the battery tray and it is wet, all down that side. ( battery side) It also seems to be intermitent, where as it will go days without a top up, but then you need to top it up after every trip on other days. I have also noticed that she will sometimes dump a load of coolant after Ive switched the engine  off  after being driven.

The temp is sitting around 85 to 90 and has'nt gone any higher than that and the fans seem to be kicking in after any sort of trip, once Ive stopped.

Is there also a guide and how to do this job, if that is what is needed?

check the beneath the n/s top hose, there is what appears to be an electrical switch of some kind that spews coolant out,  but only down to that level on mine. think investigation is in order this weekend for me !

Had this problem with my 2.6. I tightened my switch up a tad which did help for a short while, but after a while started to leak again and in the end i replaced the radiator as it had a hairline crack in it where the switch under the hose locates HTH :y
