Thought "Sealey" were OK for their tools. ??? First time of using it balljointer splitter released three then when it came to do the fourth..................... >:( >:(

I've broken my fair share of Clarke balljoint splitters (Clarke is mostly rebranded Sealey).

I find Sealey stuff generally "OK" but not great by a long shot.

As I`ve found out. In fairness the balljoint was a bit of a pig, used a high tensile bolt in place of the busted pin and even that bent before the joint split

I've got the Sykes version of that which I've had about 20years and not broken it yet.

bit like the clarke hub puller from Machine mart I had - first use it split in half.  reminded me yet again to avoid cheap tools

Trying to push a taper joint apart often does that to tools.
They need a knock to separate, which is why you can often do it with two hammers.
The way to use a splitter like that is to crank it up tight and use a hammer on the outside of the joint.
