keep your tyres pumped up
« on: 19 May 2008, 20:56:36 »

I was averaging about 25/26 mpg on my 9 mile commute to the station, been a good boy this month, checked the pressure at the fill up, used the tank, checked the pressures again.

has gone up from 26 to 29.7 mpg  :)

Not bad considering 30% of the journey the engine is not up to temp, and its a cross country route, with loads of roundabouts.

Check them weekly!

Poor mpg is normally a sign that pressure is pretty low.

I fill up twice a month, so better check it more often then. 2 fronts had lost 1 psi each, drivers rear lost 3 psi, passenger rear lost nothing.

Been about err 3 weeks ish i think since i checked it.  :-/

Well chuffed with close to 30mpg!  :)

My old Mondeo would do the same, that did not weigh as much, and had no air-con!

The 3.0 estate i had, was getting 21mpg on the same route!

Actually........ no.

i felt i had no control with the auto.

The V6 was louder thoughout all revs, sitting at idle could hear it running (in the 2.2 its silent at a stand still with engine on)

Ride was poor in comparison. Back end was all over the place (partly due it being an estate) Brakes where not as good, Bose lacked the bass my sub gives.

I'd have my 2.2 anyday over a 3.0 auto! Hence i sold it ;)

Strange... comparing against my 2.5 facelift - the 2.0 Estate  I currently have is much louder and rougher - Markie and I had a laugh putting it through it's paces and counted how long it took to get to 60 of the mark with the foot hard down ;D ;D

Takes some getting used to. I was nervous of auto at first, but didn't take me long to learn how to thrash it  :D
