Just had the Jag regassed (it was not as icy as it was, and taking a bit longer to blow cold), incl vaccing out, leak testing, regas for £36 all in.

Anyone local to me - if you're interested pm me for details.

Basically as above, vacuum residual gas out, check system for leaks, regas adding correct amount of gas for system (+ lubricant and dye), test. 

Vx price seems about right for a Vx dealer.
Likes of Twatfix etc usually around £45 - £50 (but beware them fecking it up)

I used to use a mobile guy - £50 all in.

So £36 seemed a good deal, and I watched the guy doing it.

£36 is good, I paid £60 at a local place to my parents to have the 3.2 re-done. To be fair he pressure tested both 3.2 and 2.2, the later looked like steam train about to leave a station 

But 3.2 held pressure, so got that gassed and the 2.2 checked up for free.

Prob cheap places out there, but hassle + fuel + lazyness meant i had it done in town.

IMHO a vac test is a total waste of time and money.

The main component in the system is the COMPRESSOR which causes an INCREASE in pressure within the system, this stresses seals and fixtures from the inside to out, and any such stresses leads to leaks, sometimes quite small, but the total content of gas gradually decreases.

A vac test causes a decrease in pressure, and the atmosphere will try and enter the system .. in fact it sucks down on all the seals and fixtures and unless the hole is the size of the planet (in which case all the original gas has gone) it has a tendency to reseal any stresses as it is working in totally the wrong direction. Of course, when the system passes they can regas it and take your money .. when you actually have a leak somewhere that you need fixing.

A nitrogen pressure test is far more accurate but is also more expensive ..

Yep he pressure tested mine prior to regassing

I had mine done last summer but it only lasted for the season. £50 iirc, at......yes.....kwikfit. Judging by the weather, don't think I'll bother this year.

You did well with them mate - last time I used them (a few years back now), all the gas had gone by the time I got home (12 miles!!)  Even had problems with the manager getting a refund - resolved by reference to Head Office, Trading Staandards, etc.
