Took my babby for some TLC today, (one of my son's friends is a main dealer technichian).
He replaced the worn steering idler bush, that was an advisory last MOT in January, swapped wheels fronts to rears, (wire brushed & coppaslipped the hubs). The tyres are Nankang NS1 245/45/17 & have done just 10k - should get another 10k out of them now, only sign is slight scrubbing of front outer edges. All the other little bits checked, anti freeze etc etc.
Then he did 4 wheel laser alignment, oil change with new filter & cover, the last guy that did the filter up was King Kong! :-o the cover was split & damaged, only supposed to be tightened to 15nM I'm told,  New sump bung & seal, filled with new Mobil 10w40 SS, an exhaust rubber re-fitted & off for a test drive.

He reckons it's a great car, goes bloody well, sounds a treat, (Longlife stainless exhaust - mid sport option), & all is well for the winter!

£40 well spent I reckon - oh & the parts were £71 all together, not to mention the FREE set of rear rubber mats, (brand new but covered in dust old stock! Then came home & found front rubber mats on fleabay for £9 + £9 P&P, seems a good deal to me?
My meega's happy again!

Irmscher Twinspokes 17 x 7.5 with 245 x 45s gives just about the same circumference as the originals,  a comfy ride, & great grip.
When I got the wheels they were fitted with 225 x 45s but they were a bit small & there wasn't quite enough sidewall for my liking.

Irmscher Twinspokes 17 x 7.5 with 245 x 45s gives just about the same circumference as the originals,  a comfy ride, & great grip.
When I got the wheels they were fitted with 225 x 45s but they were a bit small & there wasn't quite enough sidewall for my liking.

I don't mind  8-) but why an odd choice? Have you tried NS1's? Don't knock 'em if you ain't tried 'em  
I've had them before & I've been very pleased with them - IMHO the best *CHEAP TYRE* you can get!
They're quiet running, grippy, (but not soft & sticky), & wear reasonably well as lomg as all your angles are right. This set I've had since July 05 & done almost 10k on, & like I said in previous - just had them swapped front to rear, reckon they'll do another year at least.
I've also had bloody expensive tyres in the past - & been so p155ed off when I've had a puncture that -"can't be mended, it'll have to be a new tyre sir' that'll be £160 thank you!!!!!!!!
Yes the Nankangs are cheap - mytyres.co.uk I got a set of 4 for the price of 1 top brand!
Yes I'd like to be able to run top tyres but my budget prevents that, & BTW the twinspokes weren't that dear - from Germany!

I've got Nankang NS2's on mine......good tyre as far as im concerned....about 25k miles on em now.....still got loads of tread left....maybe 5k-10k......dont slip  or slid ....but then a 2.2 doesnt test em really.....but hey about 50 notes a corner i carnt complain

I had Nankangs on my wifes Audi and had no problems so I fitted a couple to Omega

My old boss used to swear by the Nankangs that were on his BM when he brought it.  He covered over 30K in a little over a year and clamied that he could hardly detect any wear!  Not sure about that, but there was loads of tread left when he showed me.

He used to joke about them, calling them the "tractor" tyre!

If it works, works well, and costs less then so much the better!!

I put Nankangs on the wife's car, it is only used for the school run anyway, but my point was that it seems odd that someone spends what is probably no small amount for irmscher wheels and then buys low-cost tyres...

OK - call it odd if you like, but - the wheels will last for a long long time, whatever $£$£$£$£ I pay for tyres - they won't!
