I only destroy their nests if they are a danger to us, as they do a lot of good in killing other pests. However, if I have to get rid of them, and I've got rid of two in our Close this year, I use wasp killer powder, puffed liberally around the nest entrance, it is carried into the nest by the wasps, which kills the queen. End of. :y

The last wasps nest I cleared I used powder, a lot of it as the nest was huge.  I also made sure to be fully wrapped up in 4 Romeo (ie full CBRN kit)

You wont have to wait too much longer now before the nest dies out naturally and they wont use it again next year.

I like the shotgun approach!  8)

Although it would be quite understandable if TB's neighbours are a bit twitchy at the moment when things go bang!  ::)  ;D

No point in tackling them when they aren't out... You need the drone wasps to carry the powder through the nest to the queen ;)

Aye if using the powder method, But couldn't you just dowse it in powder at night so they crawl on it when the sun rises ? , Another idea say 11pm (by then they'll all be tucked up in bed by then so to speak) go out get a good stron big plastic bag and put the nest in and seal it up and ummm ... Around here I'd prob get the metal oil drum out and light the match not much else you could do without causing griff else where like throwing the bag in the dustbin or in a river or some woods etc .. Reading that back the powder option seems the best way to go   :o :D ;D

Our wasp nest was underground under some berried pallets  :-X Stupidly when i thought they were all dead i poked the nest and out they came again  >:( Takes a while for the powder to kill them all . Other way is to call the council and get it done properly , last i heard it was about $60  8)

I haven't tried the wasp powder and having read the descriptions above I don't ever intend to ::)

This stuff works though. One application and the job was done  :y
