Just set foot through the door after leaving home 13 1/2 hours ago, oh & I didn't get paid for that shift! Ah well bedtime now, for a bit at least, back in at 1300hrs!  >:(

What's this OverTime of which you speak? I've yet to find a job in IT that actually pays it (they just expect you to be available 24/7 .. indeed in my new role 'On Call' means 'Working' - 45 minute SLA to pick up a high priority issue - and you're on call from midnight Friday to midnight Sunday, technically without sleep ;D)..

Then again, IT is also generally paid better than most shift/hourly/OT work, so I can't complain too much I suppose!

Full time - actually it's essentially going back to the role I did three years ago, just in a more senior position.. the 'on call' requirement is a little excessive and the UK management admit to that, but sadly the US see it differently (esp. in Seattle, a 'salaried' employee - rather than hourly - is seen as being paid for working 24/7.. and on top of that it's a zero-notice state so if you don't like it the company can fire you on the spot and tell you to go elsewhere for your employment.. they don't quite understand how the UK works when it comes to things like that!)

But.. this role will be better in the long run, so it's a sacrifice I'll have to make. At least the on call is only one weekend in five!

Indeed, the fun and games of working for tinpot yankie outfits  :'(

Hence I've been to the shittier parts on the smoke today, and will be again tomorrow  >:(. Still, I'm getting OT on this one, as the customer is paying ;). But its not worth in, seeing as I'll be raking black bogies from my hooter for days now.

Still, tomorrow is Friday :D

12 hour shifts ? That's part time hours. ::) ;D
The only 12 hour shifts I work are weekends.All the others are 15 hours,plus 40 minutes travel each way in between. ::)
