Chris what's the best method of checking top mounts / play in strut? I've given the shocks a damn good shake looking at the top and feeling it, also checked for play gently using a screwdriver at the top, any tips? :y

Pull it about as described earlier re shock.

I've not had or seen a top strut mount fail, other than pitted tm bearings, witch give a randomly very slightly stiff steering feel, depending on how pitted they are.

No experience of failed top mount rubber, sorry. Bit I'd guess on play being evident unloaded...?

My top mounts are original, but clearly a bit pitted. Given the loading they must take during braking and cornering, if mine can last.....
