Fiat panda 2004 sat for 18 months.
« on: 25 September 2013, 19:38:23 »

I have bought a fiat panda for pretty much next to nothing.

It's 04 plate 1.1 active in red but it's been sat since march 2012.

Hence the tax and mot have expired. It has full service history and get this, has 3285 miles on it.

I'm guessing it will need 4 new tyres due to being the originals and flat spot but I was going to change the oil, give it a drive and get a 12 month ticket on it.

Anything else that may need attention?

Dan :) :)

With that low mileage, not even run in, I would remove plugs and drop a small amount of oil in each of the pots, then turn over a few times with the plugs still out.  ;)

It's a Fiat.
Burnt it!  >:(

After the Fiat Bravo I owned for 18 months, I wouldn't have one given.

Sorry

SWMBO currently has a 2009 Panda, although with the new arrival coming in December I realised she won't be able to get the baby stuff in the boot so it'll be sold soon.

It's a 1.2 and, apart from a window regulator that was replaced under warranty, it has been faultless and 100% reliable. It's a fantastic city car and has served us very well :y

As above, I'd drop some oil down the bores but I'm guessing it's already been running so no point now. Give it a good service, brakes may be too rusty to salvage so might need replacing, tyres as you said... Good clean up and away :y

Panda is an amazing little car  - parents in law (now sadly departed) had 2 from new (1 auto, 1 manual) in past 8 years. Very basic and only issue was the starter lock on auto box - done under warranty. Quite fun to drive around the Cornish country lanes.

It has been in a garage so I'm hoping the brakes should free up pretty easily. Cheers for the last few views. I'm hoping to get a ticket on it and make a healthy profit.

Shame really as the lady I bought it off used to be very high up in the police force but has sadly become very ill at a relatively young age.

I'd change the brake fluid, on top of what's been said.

Beware of seized brake drums and possibly clutch.
