WTD - for 97 2.5 TD, steel coolant line.
« on: 10 September 2013, 21:03:27 »

Runs along the side of the block and curls round and enters the front. I have no idea of the correct name for it but mine has corroded and split on one of the bends. If I can even just get the correct name I can try and order it from Dundee dealers.

Cheers

If it only goes from one place to another with no other outlets, try a hydrolic pipe centre. they should be able to make one

Thought of that but this one has some serious bends in it as it goes around the front of the block and enters at the front. As far as I can make out it is held in place with one bolt and seals with an O ring there, with spring clips where it joins the heater matrix pipes(2) and the header tank (1).

I thought I had a picture of it out here with me but I left me camera at home so can't even show what it looks like.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

Just a thought. Could it be a coolant transfer pipe? I am going to start breaking my 97 td next week. I will have a look at it for you. If its not badly corroded I will let you know.  :y

That could well be the culprit, it does connect to the two heater pipes that run through the bulkhead?
Mine has corroded and split at the front on the downward bend before it turns back on itself into the block.
The good (silver lining type thing) part is that when hot, all that superheated coolant (well water now) is blasting all the crud off the front of the engine so that should,be nice and clean. LOL.

See when you take the offending item off can you tell me if it is an 'O' ring seal at the block end please?

Muchas Gracias

Cheers for that, I'm actually heading for the UK first thing tomorrow, so will be in Scotland on the Sunday after a concert at the O2.
Think I'll be there for just under a week, I always let SWMBO sort out the travel details and normally just go along with them!
If it's good, is there a possibility of posting?
