Not saying this is the problem, but this happened to me once.....and it was the date and time not right in the bottom right hand corner.
Updated to the correct time and date and...bingo.
Every little helps, they say :y

" SPOT ON "! I think....? My antivirus runs out today, it was saying to me: Your licence is about to expire. You have 1764 days left to renew.. Huh??  :-\ Clicked on clock and miraculously the computer had given me 4 years extra life as the calendar showed 9:24 am. 14th April 2009. Who cares how that happened. Everything back to normal...  :y

Thanks for that, sounds about right. I'm told before I start to write down my BIOS settings.. Huh? Where do I get those from, and how?  :-\

You normally access the BIOS by pressing ESC, F1, or F2 at first switch on, and the BIOS battery will be either a CR2025 or CR2032 (normally the latter).

If the BIOS battery has "died" to the extent that the date has defaulted to 2009 .. then all the other settings will have defaulted as well, so writing down what you have now is pretty pointless ... it would have been good to have written them down BEFORE they all defaulted.  :)

Having said that, if the system is working OK, the default settings should be pretty close to what you need anyway .. :)

Agree with what the pikey Entwood says.

Slap in a new batt (using full ESP precautions), boot windoze, set time, all should be good
