About 1500 paintings that were 'acquired' by the Nazis especially from Jews in the 1930's and during WWII have turned up in a Munich apartment. The son of a prominent art dealer and collector from that era who died in a car crash in 1956 was stopped in Switzerland where he was suspected of smuggling currency there and as a result his flat searched.

They are estimated to be worth over €1bn and if the original owners or their descendants can't be found he will, quite wrongly IMO, get to keep them.

This is just the tip of the iceberg of art works, possessions and cash stolen by the Nazis and still 'out there'. 

Millions is sitting in Swiss bank vaults that by rights should go to the mainly Jewish families it was stolen from, but of course most will go unclaimed for obvious reasons.

The mentioned persons father was a curator at the musem,was sacked for being half Jewish,by the nazi's  then was asked by Goebbels to sort out,the paintings, basically the nazi's thought modern art was not pure,so wanted it destroyed, but said sons father thought NO,so he stashed a few pictures away to stop them being destroyed.
so it isn't "war booty,or loot" just pictures that the curator forgot to return.

this thread aroused many questions and thoughts in my mind..


but from all , most important point to say is that I concluded that those arts must belong to whole community and kept in museum..


they are precious and must be well kept for future generations.. 


And those jackals must never be permitted to sell them for astronomical prices to maintain their unearned life..

the war is over.. and its been 70 years nearly.. he is a bit late imo
