Mine has been doing this for about two yrs. the squeak seem to be one squeak every revolution of engine it stops when I drive off and doesn't come back again till next morning and its worse in the winter. Got into the car the other day, engine missing all over the place. Sounded like a tractor. I have a new diss pack to fit when I have done that I will have to look at the belt. not sure whether the noise and the misfire are related or not yet. I will post and let you folks know what happens.

It's normal for the belt to bed in and the tensioner should find its' way to the centre line. This is why it's tensioned a little tighter than that when fitting a new belt.

If it was tensioned correctly at fitting (and with TB's guidance it would have been), then I wouldn't worry about it. TBH, if the debris is cleaned out, and there's no sign of it rubbing anywhere, it's nothing to worry about. I would put it all together, making sure the cover is aligned so that the belt doesn't rub on it, and see how it goes. Chances are it'll disappear as it all beds in.

Thanks Kev.

Just to highlight (in case anyone wonders) TB set up my belt PERFECTLY! The car runs soooo sweet so i hope i didnt give the impression it was anything TB had done. i'm very much in debt to TB and Martin for their help  :y :y :y

As far as the squealing goes... i'm not going to worry about it. At the end of the day the worst case scenario is it gives up and i end up doing it all again. Well at least i have some heads i can refurb and i now know what i need to do  :y

Obviously i'm hoping that doesnt happen  ::) ;D but if it did it wouldnt be the end of the world.

Thanks to everyone for their advice  :y

Ps, if the sound persists like over a month or so i may replace idlers and tensioner just for piece of mind... see if that works. Can you buy them seperately?  :-\

Definitely the diss pack Got it out and split all over the place. Got the new one back but now have lost a pipe from the back of the plenum one of the middle ones. don't know if anyone knows where they originate from. The squeak I will investigate further when the car is back together.

Just to add....

parked up at school today and it was running sweet at idle - no squealing. then went to car park later on to show a mate the Omega (he was reminiscing about his dad's omega years ago) and it had been sitting for a few hours so was stone cold. it started the squeaking. he got in and started listening and it seems its coming from the tensioner area...or at least that's where it was loudest  :y

he pointed it out and didn't know where the tensioner/idler assembly was.

There are 4 pipes coming out of the black contraption on top of the plenum. I have three. One is missing I really wanted to know where they originate from so I know roughly where to look. probably dropped down the back some where.

Two outer pipes become one and go to the large inlet on the breatherbox at the back of the 135 head, similar position to dispack but tother side...

Smaller middle pipe goes to the small pipe on the breather box.

Fourth pipe goes to the Purge Valve from the carbon canister in the righthand wheel arch. Sits between breather box and HBV :y

Well, drove the car for over 50 miles today. I started it up after an hour cold and it didn't do it. Hopefully it's bedding in and it will gradually go away. I'll keep my eye on it  :y

If in a months' time its still doing it and just for piece of mind I feel like replacing idlers and tensioners... would Vauxhall sell me them separately? :)
