The great escape
« on: 12 November 2013, 09:52:02 »

I recorded a couple of documentaries on the great escape the other day. Half way through " the great escape:revealed" just now. Absolutely amazing!

Seen the film of course but I didn't realise they were 30ft down. 11 months it took them. Some escapees are being interviewed at the site, just incredible to think what these guys went through.
Anyone see it? If not you may be able to get it on catch up. Was on channel 5.

Have been similar programs on before, truly incredible what they did. It's also shocking what the Germans did to the captured people when some of them were re-captured.  :'(

what's even more amazing is that there are two survivors of the escape alive today.  I know of one in australia as i know his grandaughter.  also had a great uncle in Stalag luft 3 who was there at the time ( 2 huts away)

It's even more incredible that he chased himself to the wire.

(He doubled as a German soldier on a bike in persuit.... )
