Using a spare key
« on: 12 November 2013, 20:13:08 »

I should know the answer to this...but I don't.  :-[

My push-button key fob is fubared and I am about to send it off to Martin Imber for repair. In the meantime, I have dug out my non-central locking spare key for its first use. The only problem is that the power sounder goes off every time I open the car door and continues until I start the car. Is there anyway of temporarily switching this off until I get the repaired key back?  ???

I think that's the alarm rather than P/S as mine was the same when the fob depaired itself. I disconnected the alarm horn and have no powersounder anyway.

No, but if you lock the closed driver's door by reaching through the back door, it doesn't arm the alarm.  ;)

I reckon I could manage that for a couple of days.  ;)

Thanks Andy!  :y :y

Or repair your own fob. It's not a difficult task

Me and soldering don't get on too well!  :-X

Besides which, the push buttons are pretty much worn through.  ;)

As there are no replacement cases that aren't rock hard, I'd seriously consider a replacement fob.
