Chromebook

Anyone have any knowledge of these?
Miss2112 needs a laptop or something, and I've seen these at a reasonable price.
Just thought I'd ask  :y

What does she want to do with her chosen device?

I use one most of the time and love it. It's SO fast when on line .....  :y

File handling is a bit of an issue, so use my old laptop when I want to use a "real" file. I haven't worked out how to print on my home network either - so do any printing off the other machine.

I've got the HP one - which has the 14" screen, I think thy are about the £200 mark .....

I'm guessing all the usual surfing, you-tubing, music, etc. but she will also need it for school.  She's not keen on a tablet as she wants a proper keyboard.

Mmm. Files,  projects and essays might be an issue?
I may be better looking at a netbook then, or whatever they're called now  ;D

You can do it, but it uses Google "on line" apps and storage ....... I tend to download stuff onto the machine itself and then put it onto a memory stick for transfer to the laptop.

Getting on-lie is really fast. From power-on to home page in 6 seconds - including putting the password in!

Currently our laptop is broken - it won't power up.
We're using our tab for normal surfing, and she is borrowing a laptop for the school stuff, but that can't go on indefinately.
It seems that without a pc the chromebook would be a non-starter for her  :-\
