which would you choose, which is best?
« on: 18 November 2013, 18:26:55 »

I need a cheap cordless drill for a 1 off job
I have a choice of 2

1=18 volt with a 1200 ni cad battery
or
2=14 volt with a 1500 ni cad battery

so do I go for volts or battery?
which would you choose?
cheers

Depends on the the one off job tbh.....

If you need the power but less drilling time the higher voltage would be better.

Less power but more drilling time, the bigger battery  :y

The voltage/current rating is a moot point at the moment, what matters more is the job and the capabilities of the drill itself.

Either way, Ni-Cd batteries are very old tech and won't take much in the way of abuse where charging/discharging is concerned.

I need to drill about 30 10mm holes about a 1nch deep
so think il go for the bigger battery then
yes I no ni cad are not very good but the drills are less than 20 pounds, so as long as it does the job I can throw it away as the cost of the drill is covered in my quote.if I spend more it comes out of my profit and its not something I would use a lot so no point in spending more.
thanks for the replys
