Despite the weather I had no trouble getting to work today, walked from my lounge, through the hall, to the home office, no problem.  :y :y :y ;D ;D ;D

All my shopping done of Thursday morning to take advantage of Aldi special offers, got everything that I wanted on my list, just had to dodge round all of the 85 year olds also doing theirs and Friday evening for the rest.

Aldi on Friday evening was like a plague of locusts had been through with many shelves bare, then went to Lidl with plenty of stock and finally to Tesco for a few minor things the other stores don't stock. The fruit and veg in Tesco was literally stacked 6ft high and in terms of customers it was like the Mary Celeste. I think I know who has won this year's supermarket Christmas sales war.

Aldi and Lidl are both private companies so it is the German owners. Karl Albrecht who owns Aldi Sud which operates in the UK and is Germany's richest citizen at €17.5 billion and Dieter Schwarz who owns Lidl and is worth a mere €11.5billion.  :o :o :o :o

Aldi North is owned and controlled by other members of the Albrecht family and operate in different parts of Germany and Europe where the two Aldi groups don't directly compete against each other.

Small fortunes compared to our very own Lord Opti of course.  :o :o :o :o
